Here's an error message I get that crashes NoClone about halfway thorugh my cleanup.

This happens every time and some of the deletes and replacements work.

This happens on my XP machine at home with 2gig of memory and 3200amd x64. Also, the same thing at work with a 2.8g intel and 1 gig of memory. Seems like this is a major bug since two machines with completely different data sets cause the same error.

Any Help??

So I tried the "trial" software and NOCLONE found tons of duplicates. Tried to eliminate them but the trial version only will do 15 groups...so, GREAT. I pay my 31 bucks and start the process over again. But now I get this database error and its still a hassel cause with 8000 duplicates or whaterver it will still take a long time to run and rescan and crash and run and rescan and crash.

This problem is NOT just on my home computer either (running XP with 2gig of memory) but also at work with windows 2000 and 1 gig of memory.

So I looks like NOclone doesn't scale up to thousands of files, let alone the millions claimed.

The reply I got back was that I should wait for the next release.

I gladly paid for a working version of NOCLONE but I feel a little gyped here.

How about refunding my money and I'll rebuy when the new version comes out???

My experience with NoClone is similar.
After finding out about the 15 groups, today I purchased the software and continued running.
Initially, NoClone had to process 9700 files, but along the way it just stopped (some dialogbox with lots of lines like the one that kb9nvh attached in his post).
After restarting, I did two more runs, one indicated that 8013 files were left to process, and the last one said 6960 files to go. In the course of each run it aborted in the same way.
I have some 250.000 file to go, so I would like to have a solution soon.
In Holland we have a law that protects consumers within 8 days after purchase that entitles them to get a refund, I may want to use that regulation if there is no quick solution.

My intent isn't to bash NOCLONE....I just need this to work and as it stands it doesn't work in two of my completely differenc applications. I dont know if NOCLONE works for MOST people but I know it doesnt work for me as it stands. I need and want this program to work. Please fix it and I will consider my 31 dollars money well spent...At least clue us in on where we are at and if you have the problem understood.

Sorry for late reply.

We are working on the update of NoClone recently on news features and also for bug fix. We have received your report and making necessary changes to fix this bug. As this error did not appear in majority of NoClone users, we still need sometimes to get it fix. We will let you know as soon as possible for the latest update.

Thanks for the update. There are at least two of us out there with this problem. Since it failed to work in two situations for me (at work and at home), I cant help but think that we aren't the only two. Thats OK but its sounds like you dont have an easy fix or obvious fix for what happen to us.

I really WANT NOCLONE to work but I cant help but feel I've wasted 31 bucks.
What is your refund policy for this kind of issue. If your demo hadn't limited it to 15 groups then I would have known your software didnt' work for my situation and would not have bought it?

I am using:

Registered(Enterprise Edition)
NoClone 4.0
4.0.46.0

Like others, I can process some files, then this message happens, and stops the process

If it matters, I am using the NTFS Link option, not the delete or move option. I might try the move option, to see if that helps.

I am very impressed with the options that NoClone4 offers, its SmartMarker and SaveSpace options are very impressive, however, if the program does not work, these advanced options do not help.

Just FYI, I did multiple WindowsXP "Disk Error Checking" on the drive that I was processing.

I did it with and without the NTFS link and it made no difference in the program halting with an error

I did try the "MOVE" option and choose another disk, and it worked just fine.

However, I still would like to use the "NTFS Link" option.

I dont see the option to move to another disk... all I see is an option to delte to the recycle bin??

I just retried this at work and it worked without crashing!!

Did you guys fix this problem????

I never updated...do updates happen automatically???

Anyway, I'll try it at home and if it works then I'll be a happy camper again!!

Spoke too soon....database error continues (but not always...strange)

OK NO-CLONER's ....this should not be too hard to figure out since it happens repeatedly.

Hi All,

We are still working on the new version and I am sorry to let you guys waiting for the updated release with bug fixed and new features.

One temporary solution is to remove every content in
c:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Reasonable Software\NoClone 4.0\4.0.46

and restart NoClone.

This is not as easy as we expected as this bug somehow is "machine dependent". It is difficult for us to regenerate this error in certain condition. However we try hard to dig into the code and find the source of error. Your patience is much appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback....We will patiently await your solution. I can only imagine how the access to a HUGE list of files taxes the operating system and systems set up to manipulate them. I'll try the workaround for now as I really want to get my files cleaned up...
