Be careful to use beta software, test with test data, not real data.

Hi,

Thanks for your support as beta testers. NoClone 4 will be released in a few days after this final beta release. So far, we have completed the following features:

  1. Powerful scan:
    1. able to scan 1 million files at one single scan (fixed out of memory error)  - it requires 1-2 days but can be optimized before final release
    2. fix stack overflow error
    3. can read Unicode file name
    4. Responsive search - easer to cancel
    5. Exclude by folder and file type
  2. Comparison:
    1. Define duplicate files
    2. compare more than 256 same-sized files
    3. able to compare files larger than 2GB
  3. Presentation
    1. Clear grouping of duplicate files
    2. New look
  4. Improved Smart Marker - sexy interface with tree view of folders to be marked plus sizable window
  5. Safe removal: SaveSpace - Replace with hard links
  6. Error log instead of prompt of errors to avoid interruption of scan

I am sorry that in order maintain the stability of code, "Compare mp3 tags" will be implemented after final release.

The beta 3 can be installed from http://noclone.net/noclone4beta/publish.htm. The edition you will test is enterprise edition: Enter this registration code to gain access to full version without expiration:
NOCLON4B-******** (please ask cs[at]reasonables.com)

Please be reminded that this is a beta software, you should test with test data only. Be careful not to mark all files for removal or both your mater and duplicates are deleted. Otherwise use at your own risk, we are not responsible for any loss caused.

The curent way to differentiate home users from business users is not a good way as many home users have their own LAN and external drives. So we propose a new pricing model for NoClone 4. Subscription is proposed instead of upgrade for future release. Yearly subscription include free upgrade and priority support during subscription period.

Hi Alan,

Got the newest build installed tonight and just finished running it over my ~65,000 mp3's here to see if it could weed out any dupes. It only found one and I'm sure there are many more than that. When I clicked on the log file it had the following entries....

I think this is why it couldn't find more dupes, maybe?   Also, I wrote to the address in your post to get a key.  Hope it's still available ;)
